Week of May 4, 2015

Here's what we are learning for the week:

Math:
I can describe 3-D shapes using the attributes sides, faces, and vertices. I can identify regular and irregular shapes based on attributes.  
I can draw conclusions by looking at information used from a picture and bar graph.  
I can interpret information and solve problems from bar graphs and picture graphs. 


Reading / Social Studies:
I can listen to poems and respond to sensory details, rhythm, rhyme, and alliteration.  
I can use my five senses to describe an object with sensory words. 

Writing:

I can write a short poem that contains sensory details. 
I can brainstorm a list of ideas that are near and dear to my heart. 

Spelling:  
I can spell words with the rime pattern -ar and -ed.

When your child practices writing their spelling words at home, please make sure they are using capital letters correctly.  The only word that needs a capital letter is the word I.  All others should be written with lowercase letters without a capital letter added where it doesn't belong.

Science:
I can observe and learn about the life cycle of a fish, frog, and chicken.
