Week of March 2, 2015

Here's what we are learning for the week:

Math:
I can practice telling time to the hour and half hour.  
I can review problem solving skills. 


Reading / Social Studies:
I can review story elements for fiction and fantasy. 
I can listen for rhyming words, alliteration, and rhythm in Dr. Seuss stories. 

Writing:
I can write a brief composition about something I already know. 
I can communicate my ideas clearly in my writing. 
I can stay on topic when writing. 

Spelling:  
 I can spell words with -ake and -ike.

Spelling Words:
1. make
2. cake
3. flake
4. bike
5. hike
6. strike
7. made
8. him
9. go
10. her

Challenge Words:
1. likely
2. pancake

No Bonus this week

When your child practices writing their spelling words at home, please make sure they are using capital letters correctly.  The only word that needs a capital letter is the word I.  All others should be written with lowercase letters without a capital letter added where it doesn't belong.

Science:
I can explain how animals depend on one another. 
I can understand how energy passes from one animal to another as it is consumed.
