Week of January 12, 2015

Parents:  Don't forget that we have Cogat Testing this week on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings. Please make sure your child is well rested the night before and has a healthy breakfast on testing days. Encourage your child to be the very best listener they can be and to think about what the question is asking. Please remind your students that there is absolutely no talking during the test.

Here's what we are learning for the week:

Math:

I can apply fact strategies to add and subtract within 20.
I can explain strategies used to solve addition and subtraction problems up to 20 using words, objects, pictorial models, and number sentences.
I can generate and solve problem situations when given a number sentence involving addition and subtraction of numbers within 20.
I can represent word problems involving addition and subtraction of whole numbers

Reading / Social Studies:

Writing:

When your child practices writing their spelling words at home, please make sure they are using capital letters correctly.  The only word that needs a capital letter is the word I.  All others should be written with lowercase letters without a capital letter added where it doesn't belong.

Science:
