Week of December 15, 2014

Math:
I can explain the difference between a want and a need.
I can determine if I should spend or save my money.
I can identify what charitable giving is and give examples of why we should donate.


Reading / Social Studies:
I can make connections to well known stories, such as holiday stories.
I can explain the function of story elements and recurring phrases in traditional literature.
I can learn about Winter Holidays for different cultures.


Writing:
I can draft a personal narrative that includes small moments from my life.
I can write about the beginning, middle, and end of that small moment for my narrative.
I can review nouns, verbs, and adjectives.

Spelling: 
Words with -ug and -ig.

Words are:  bug, rug, shrug, twig, dig, jig, us, we, your, king

Challenge Words:  zigzag, ladybug

Bonus:  snowflake

When your child practices writing their spelling words at home, please make sure they are using capital letters correctly.  The only word that needs a capital letter is the word I.  All others should be written with lowercase letters without a capital letter added where it doesn't belong.

Science:
I can review previously learned concepts and science equipment.
